Butchery Classes at Lishman’s

Cure a Ham for Christmas: Master Butchery Class

Have you ever wondered how a leg of pork is made into a ham? What the farmers used to do when they killed their pig and had a ham feast? Well… we will be running two ‘Cure a Ham for Christmas’ evening classes in November. The classes will take place on Thursday 16th November 2017 and Thursday 30th November 2017.

If you would like to book a place or a gift voucher for either of the dates just drop us a line or call 01943 609 436 and Alex will arrange everything for you.

What you will learn:Ham Preparation

  • How a leg of pork is prepared for ham curing
  • What you can do with the trim
  • The mysteries behind the curing of the ham

You can expect:

  • A maximum of 8 people
  • Master Butchers will teach you how to prepare a leg of pork for curing into a fantastic Christmas ham
  • Hands on cutting and curing of this ham
  • Making the brines
  • A choice of which brine you would like to cure your ham in
  • A fun, educational, light hearted session

You will take home:

  • Products made from the trim of the leg of pork
  • A booklet of recipes and tips on how to prepare and cook a ham
  • The home cured ham worth over £80

Where and When:

Thursday 16th November 2017 or Thursday 30th November 2017, starting time 5.45pm for 6pm, Finish approximately 9pm. This is a hands-on class, held in the unit at Ilkley, less glamorous than you might expect from us! Wear warm clothes. Ham curing takes a few weeks and will be ready for your festive celebrations.

Cost:

Book one place for £125 or come with a friend for £225 for the pair of you. Pretty good value when you consider that the ham alone is worth over £80…

If you would like to book a place, or want to arrange a butchery voucher for one of these ham curing classes, just complete the enquiry form with your phone number and Alex will give you a call to get everything sorted for you.

Just the best quality you can wish for.
